WITEZ BLACK ARABIANS

2010 Farm Update

NEW HERD ADDITIONS

FEBRUARY:

We were able to add to our little herd, CH MOLLY MALLONE ASPC# 159896. A 2009 black tobiano Class A Foundation Sealed Shetland filly from a breeder in MT. When we purchased MOLLY, she was on their other ranch in the Houston, TX area where she was foaled. Then MOLLY was first shipped to their ranch in MT before coming here to ND. Molly is exuberant, full of life and moves beautifully. Bred to produce consistency and quality, both in looks and temperament. Molly goes back to KID LEE and LEE-LAND CHILE on both sides of her pedigree, through the great National Champion and Double Superior Sire, RAVEN OF BIRD HAVEN HOF. Her sire is a son of and her dam is a granddaughter of RAVEN. Molly is a RAVEN OF BIRD HAVEN granddaughter and great granddaughter.

JUNE:

We were allowed to add to our family, CHILI'S COLORED CARISMA ASPC# 153114A from her Breeder in MN. CARMA is a super sweet 2004 mare, who loves people. Loves attention and has a beautiful disposition. She has TOP bloodlines and could make a great show girl, driving pony and all around sweet pet. Bringing our little herd of ASPC Classic Foundation black tobiano Shetland mares up to three. CARMA's a granddaughter of CHILE LEE and a daughter of DICKY’S COLORED KID VB. She is a nice size, near 40" with Shetland measuring.

FOALS BORN

TBA BARBIE, an outside owned Spanish Mustang x Arabian Palomino mare foaled a black filly by EOPOLUS (Elvis) on April 21st. Her owner says about TRIQUTRA PRINCESS: She is so smart, I have her leading pretty good by halter now and she is only two weeks old. Probably the easiest foal that I have halter broke, she picks things up fast and does not throw herself with fits. She is doing well with give and take, so I'm thinking of tying her up soon, like to a hitch rail or pole. When loose she is so independent, curious, care free and wants to play a rough game of tag. She also just leaves her dam, BARBIE any time she wants too and does not respond to BARBIE's nickers, if she is curious about something. BARBIE has to go to her and try to push her back where she wants her to be. PRINCESS tries to avoid the Mom push around, if she is focused on something. PRINCESS is so pretty.

TBA TRIGGER WITEZ BA was foaled June 29th. A nice palomino 11.62% *WITEZ II bred colt with nine lines. With a blaze and one rear sock. 55/64 Arabian, 1/8 Spanish Mustang and 1/64 Quarter Horse.
SIRE: Flaxen Liver Chestnut with blaze and three socks. Both black parents. Full brother was a very successful Cutting horse in All-Breed and Arabian competition, especially good against the Quarter Horses.
DAM: Palomino NIGA granddaughter. Generations of Palominos through her dam.

Nice disposition and correct conformation with good hooves. He should mature around 14.3 hands. TRIGGER went to his new home in Medina, ND late October.

HORSE'S WHO WENT TO NEW HOMES

JANUARY:

We sold our stallion, EOPOLUS (Elvis) AHR 588055. OPUS ONE+ x EPILOGIS WMF (*ALADDINN x MELON daughter). A 2001 Pure Polish Black Homozygous Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes Nominated Sire. ELVIS has 16 lines to OFIR, the renown sire of *WITEZ II to a wonderful home in Southern CA. Elvis Presley's 75th birthday was January 8th, interesting that his Buyer sent ELVIS' first payment on that date.

The end of January DJANA also left for her new home in MT with the same Shipper that picked up Elvis. DJANA WITEZ BA 586963, a 2001 beautiful solid blue black homozygous 23.1% *WITEZ II mare with 14 lines. SIRE: 29.7% *WITEZ II Preservation stallion. DAM: 16.4% *WITEZ II blue black NIGA granddaughter out of a black HAL GIBBY granddaughter.

We no longer had DJANA listed for sale, but were asked if we would consider selling one of our black broodmares. Since we had offered DJANA for sale previously, we decided we would offer DJANA. Lana decided she wanted to give DJANA a new home on their ranch in MT. Lana writes of DJANA after her arrival: Djana is doing wonderful. We love her! She sure is pretty! I just wish we didn't have to wait a year to get a foal out of her. I am so anxious to get a baby from her.

We have retained Djana's July 1, 2009 daughter, DJAJA WITEZ BA. (An El Nigadin & Dama Witez great granddaughter). JAJA is a beautiful blue black filly with a star. JAJA meaning laughter was foaled 16 days early. JAJA is 25.6% *WITEZ II Preservation Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes Nominated with 18 lines to *Witez II. Her sire is a 28.1% *WITEZ II Preservation Arabian Breeders Sweepstakes Nominated black stallion.

It was very hard to sell Elvis and Djana. But being my health just isn't what it used to be. If we continue breeding, I wanted to try it with something a bit smaller.

We will now be focusing our attention on our new breeding venture of producing Linebred *Witez II Black Tobiano PtHA/half Arabian Ponies and Black Tobiano PtHA/Shetland Ponies. By our American Shetland Foundation Certified Black Homozygous Tobiano stallion and out of our *WITEZ II bred Black Arabian mares. Using our three Purebred black Arabian mares and filly. Foals should mature around 13 to 14 hands.

We also figured it would be fun to raise, a couple of purebred black tobiano Shetland foals occasionally.

JUNE:

We offered DANZEL for sale for just the right home only! He is such a nice horse, but we just aren't or never were 50 milers! A ten year old purebred black NIGA grandson out of black NIGA and HAL GIBBY granddaughter. A nice full bodied 14.3+ hand black gelding with chrome. He looks like *WITEZ II in black with his star, snip and four low socks. Nice shaped white hooves. EL NIGADIN's last son, his 78th foal out of 79 total. Sire: Our late blue black NIGA son, EL NIGADIN. Dam: Our late black DAMA WITEZ by NIGAS WITEZ, an English Pleasure Champion and out of a HAL GIBBY daughter. DANZEL is 16.4% *WITEZ II with seven lines. Trail riding experience. Also rode in the Mountains of WY.

Liz wrote that she would love to take DANZEL! I think he will do well in endurance and he's built just the way I like a horse to be built. Could hardly believe, Liz actually wanted to purchase another horse from us!

REPORTS RECEIVED FROM OUR BUYERS THIS YEAR:

APRIL:

Pam in MT wrote of ELVIS' 2009 black tobiano half Arabian son: CRUZ'R is doing great, he is looking like he might be rather tall? He is very smart, learns quickly and has been sticking to me like glue! I like the way he carries his head when he is running - his face is forward instead of nose in the air... he should be a striking beauty.

Pam writes again about CRUZ'R in May: I can't tell you how smart and how beautiful he is turning out to be and he loves to run - he is going to be awesome!

Received a phone call and e-mail from DJ's new owner in Houston, TX: I now own DJ. He is a great little horse (locomotive). He completed his first 25 mile endurance ride @ Shanghi Trails. Every year my mother and go on a weekend trail ride. The weekend before I rode DJ on our Ladies retreat, every time we would cross a ditch he would want to jump it. The following weekend when my mother rode, I warned her to be careful he is going to try and jump the water way. To my surprise he did not jump it, he was very careful and took care of my mother. DJ is great with the kids and very tolerable with inexperienced riders. He gets a therapist massage after our long weekend trail rides. He is well loved.

Oh, I love taking DJ on rides, he leads us through the scary boogie-men that scare the other horses! DJ is not scared of anything, which is awesome.

JUNE:

New Info from Liz about all the Horses she's purchased from us:

ELVIS is doing extremely well in training. He is doing VERY well at the trainers and should be coming home next month. I will keep you posted. He went through a spooky period of time and he got really fussy about having anything touching his legs but he's getting much better and the trainer is SO pleased with him. I went and saw him a couple of weeks ago and he looked so happy and was super relaxed.

KLASSI is doing good and I'm breeding her to my Pinto stallion this year. I sent her to a trainer to put some ground manners on her and it has helped tremendously.

JAZZ is doing ok - he still isn't the friendliest horse around, but I put him with a friend of mine and he gets exposure all day to looks of people - it seems to help him a lot.

KHAS (aka Romeo) is coming along nice. He's still really green and needs LOTS of trail miles. He is very sweet though and all of the girls LOVE him!!

MERCEDES - WOW is she a complete handful. Way too much horse for me to handle. I make my husband deal with her. BOY is she hott!!! I'm hoping that breeding Klassi to my Pinto might calm that blood down a little.

ECLIPSE - well he's mister wonderful. I just adore this pony. He has become such a wonderful horse.

MALAN - he is doing wonderful!! He is BIG! He stands about 15.1 and is not happy about the trails just yet. He's doing much better, but gets super nervous. But I KNOW, he'll come out of that soon enough.

EDINA is a wonderful horse. She is going to be a wonderful endurance horse. She is one of the most level headed horse that my husband rides. He really loves her. Her sister, ELANA is way more of a handful, but I just shipped her to the trainers about 5 weeks ago. She is getting the beginnings of training.

LODIN (aka Nikki) is AWESOME - that horse is going to be a really good endurance horse in a few years. He LOVES to go, go and go some more.

JULY:

Liz wrote more: DANZEL is doing great. He needs some more experience with trail stuff, tractors, motorcycles, cars, peacocks etc but other than that he has been great. My trainer friend LOVES him and says he's almost better than ECLIPSE. ELVIS is better than ECLIPSE :-). BUT ELVIS is lazy (like most studs). ECLIPSE has tapped his get up and go side more. He's become super independent and has developed a walk that really puts a lot of horses to shame.

DECEMBER:

Regina wrote again of DJ: Hi wanted to just drop you a line on how well DJ is doing. We moved to my best friend's (Loretta) barn. DJ is now well loved by Loretta's grandchildren. They have claimed him as their horse. Emily loves to ride him and love, brush and give him all the attention he could ever want. DJ just loves that little girl. DJ has turned black black black and feels like cashmere. Everyone just loves touching him, because he feels so good.

OUR NEW BARN CATS:

Saw this ad for two Beautiful Adult Male Siamese, Free to Loving Home. 6 year old brothers, one seal point, one blue point, altered well mannered, long haired and beautiful. Very loving and good mousers, have lived on farm and as full time indoor city cats, love attention. Family can't keep us do to new baby's allergies.

I finally found a lady that was very happy give her kitties to a farm home. Their names are Samson (Blue Point) and Sebastian (Seal Point). They're Purebred Himalayan Siamese Cats. Big kitties, each weighs 15#. Both kitties are now happy in their new home. They love to hunt and lay in the tall grass of our pastures. Patches is during well also with her two new boy friends!

GENERAL NOTES:

JUNE:

Our SOLO went into saddle training in June. SOLO still is only 14.2 hands. But she has excellent hooves, good legs and great body build. SOLO will even get more body with maturity, she just turned four on the 12th of this month. It would be fantastic if SOLO will do well with her training, so we would not have to look for another horse for Lyle.

After just a week our trainer called. SOLO is doing fantastic. Sounds like he doesn't think, Lyle needs another horse. He said SOLO does everything he asks of her, gives her head well and even backs up for him. He said it is nice to have a smart horse that likes you and wants to work well with you, that she learns something new everyday. He said SOLO is a very nice horse and we should be very happy with her. We are very happy to hear it!

We are now down to five ponies and four horses. Four Purebred Black Tobiano Shetland ponies. Three Purebred Black Arabian mares. Six black tobianos and three blacks.

TRAIL RIDING:

It was a rainy spring, summer, and fall. Since we sold DANZEL, and SOLO was at the trainer, we were only able to attended two trail rides this year.
