MKK SASSIE LIL LASSIE:

In June, LASSIE, our new filly arrives from MN. Pinto Horse Association of America (PtHA) #135722Y. Foaled May 18, 2008. With the conformation and nice black tobianio pinto color pattern to excel as a show pony in the Pinto halter classes. Personality to make a performance pony, as well. Straight legs and very nice conformation. Excellent temperament. Extremely friendly! LASSIE has a lot of carriage and movement. She will mature to about 54-56 inches... LASSIE is 1/2 Shetland, 7/16 Arabian and 1/16 American Saddlebred. LASSIE could be registered as a National Show Pony also. LASSIE should make a very fancy driving pony.

Sire: J.J.'s PAINTED CODY's LEE-LAND (ASPC - Classic Shetland Pony - Foundation Certified) ASPC/AMHR/PtHA (height 38 inches - Black Tobiano Homozygous).
Dam: SK KIANNA (7/8 black Arabian).

When we purchased LASSIE. I was looking for a half Arabian/half Shetland black tobiano mare. But I was unable to find one. Found this filly, she was as close as I could come. After I purchased LASSIE, I came up with the idea. If they are so hard to find, maybe others are looking for the same. So it might be a good idea for us to raise them. LASSIE is an example of what we plan to be raising in the very near future.

H.P.'s PANDA BEAR:

In July we purchased PANDA, a Black Homozygous tobiano colt, and triple registered. American Shetland Pony Club #159606, American Shetland Foundation Certified #4444, Pinto Horse Association of America (PtHA) #138442. Foaling date: May 20, 2009, Height: 37" at 6 months Our plans are to breed PANDA in the near future to our Purebred black Arabian mares to produce black tobiano PtHA/half Arabian National Show Ponies.

Both PANDA's Sire and Dam are black tobiano.
Sire: JJS Painted Bear JJS Painted War Chant Kid (Kid Lee x Winks Showdeo) x Shes A Bear (Kid Lee). 40 inches
Dam: H.P. Princes Birdie Belle HP Jericho's Peaceable Prince x Snowbird of Bird Haven. 44 inches

Raising only a couple of foals each year. It will be nice for marketing purposes to know ahead of time, that our foals will be black tobiano PtHA/half Arabian National Show Ponies. We will now be focusing on our new breeding venture of producing black tobiano PtHA/half Arabian National Show Ponies. By our American Shetland Foundation Certified Black Homozygous Tobiano colt and out of our *WITEZ II bred Black Arabian mares.

MKK HEIDI'S PAINTED BRIELLE:

In November, we thought it would be fun to raise purebred black tobiano Shetland foals occasionally. So we purchased a little black tobiano Shetland filly for Panda's new girlfriend. LOL It's interesting that PANDA and his new girlfriend, BRIELLE were foaled on the very same day May 20th, 2009! BRIELLE is a weanling half sister to LASSIE, same sire. BRIELLE is also our 115th horse.

BRIELLE is also triple registered, American Shetland Pony Club #159832, American Shetland Foundation Certified #4531, Pinto Horse Association of America (PtHA) #138408. Her Height: 31" at 6 months. BRIELLE is a cute little filly that with a lot of promise of maturing in the AMHR line. Petite and very refine. Small head. She has a cockiness about her and a little attitude.

Sire: J.J.'S PAINTED CODY's LEE-LAND, 1988 ASPC/AMHR/PtHA -- 38 inches Foundation Sealed. CODY is a black tobiano homozygous Aged stallion. He produces unbelievable quality. Goes back to the old KID LEE/WINK's SHOWDEO KID bloodlines. CODY gives the over-all balanced look, pretty heads, swan necks and correct leg structure in his foals.
Dam: RED ROCK HI HOOF's, ASPC/PtHA -- 40 inches 1993 Foundation Sealed Buckskin. Heidi is very pretty under harness. She foals small babies, measuring maturity at 38-39 inches. Many foals have made it successfully in the Pinto show circuit. Her pedigree includes old time favorites of "Wink's" and "H.V. King of all".

GENERAL NOTES:

We had a very tuff Winter of 08/09, we hadn't had a bad Winter for twelve years. We made the second snowiest Winter Record at 100.2 inches of snow. Just about broke the record of 1996/1997 of 101.6 inches. Which caused serious flooding all over the state this Spring.

TRAIL RIDING:

--The middle of July, we went to the Fort Ransom State Park in SE ND. It was a very enjoyable two days. We had never been there before, we went with the lady that does our website and her trail riding group out of the Jamestown area.

--The third week of August, we went trail riding in SW WY, the Bridger-Teton Wilderness of the Rocky Mts near Pinedale. At a lady's ranch, we had sold three horses to back in the early nineties. We brought along several friends from ND, MN and WI.

Sunday: We rode the SHOAL FALLS trail - Beautiful, cascading waterfall at the end of Riley Draw in the Gros Ventre Mountains.

Monday: We rode the GREEN RIVER LAKES trail - The Clear Creek Canyon trail begins at the northwest shore of the lower lake. The source of the Green River. Rode past both lakes, up the valley floor to Square Top Park. The beautiful Square Top Mountain sits at the head of the valley.

Tuesday: We rode ELKHART PARK TRAILHEAD trail - Elkhart Park is at 9,100 foot elevation, surrounded by peaks over 13,000. Rode through timber with a gradual climb. Fantastic Mountain views.

Thursday: We rode NEW FORK LAKES TRAILHEAD trail - The granite pillars of the New Fork canyon rise 2000 foot above 2 glacial lakes. The trail began on the west shore of the upper lake and followed the canyon floor for 7 miles before entering New Fork Park. A gradual climb with many water crossings and several steep areas.

Friday: We rode in the RED DESERT - Mostly sagebrush and sand. On the SE side of White Mountain is a sandstone cliff with multiple shallow caves and Indian petroglyphs. Rising above middle of the basin floor is the Boar's Tusk volcanic rock formation.

Over all DANZEL, EL NIGADIN's last 2000, a black Arabian gelding did fine on the trail rides, naturally neither of our horses care to much about walking through black water. Of course FANCY, our 1993 black tobiano half Arabian black mare doesn't care for large areas of mud either. DANZEL's worse problem is still his separation anxiety when away from FANCY. It is okay, if he is a few horses behind or ahead. But as soon as he notices that he can not see FANCY, Lyle starts having problems with him. But DANZEL is improving! So that is the important thing!

Saturday: On the way home, we stopped in Wibaux, MT to see Elvis' June 20th, 2009 black tobiano colt, WILEY STAR CRUZ'R. Out of a half Arabian bay tobiano mare. He is a very friendly nice foal!

For photos of our Trail Riding vacation in the Bridger-Teton Wilderness Click Here.

--Labor Day weekend, we went riding in the Little Missouri State Park, 20 miles N of Killdeer with Danzel and Fancy with the Badland Trail Riders group.

--The first weekend in October, we took a trip to Red Wing, MN did some riding in the area with my Sister and the friends we were with in WY. Then we came back home through SD and picked up PANDA.

HORSEs WHO WENT TO NEW HOMES

NICKELODIN WITEZ BA #2A367935:

In April LODIN went to his new home in Southern CA. LODIN is a 2008 nice palomino, 11.62% *WITEZ II bred colt with nine lines. Blaze and three socks. 55/64 Arabian, 1/8 Spanish Mustang and 1/64 Quarter Horse.
Sire: Flaxen Liver Chestnut with blaze and three socks. Both black parents. Full brother was a very successful Cutting horse in All-Breed and Arabian competition, especially good against the Quarter Horses.
DAM: Palomino NIGA granddaughter. Generations of Palominos through her dam. Nice disposition, correct conformation with good hooves. Should mature around 14.3 hands.

Liz wrote after Lodin arrived: BTW Lodin is doing fabulous! He is so sweet just like Malan. We are so very happy, we figured Lodin would be! I'm sure they'll get along wonderfully. Lodin is so beautiful and sweet.

I never dreamed that Liz would buy another horse from us, after she purchased Malan from us last Fall. Liz loves Malan very much, says he is just a fantastic young black gelding in all ways. We already know that we should of kept Lodin, but we can only keep so many horses.

DJAZI WITEZ BA #633580:

July: We needed to find a new home before next Winter for JAZI. JAZI is a 2007 beautiful solid blue black 25.6% *WITEZ II Preservation gelding with 18 lines.
SIRE: 28.1% *WITEZ II Preservation black stallion.
DAM: Solid blue black homozygous 23.1% *WITEZ II mare with 14 lines. Out of a blue black NIGA granddaughter, out of a black HAL GIBBY granddaughter. Maturing around 14.3 hands.

So we decided to send JAZI to live with the lady, that already has nine of our horses in Southern CA. She has purchased, including the black filly by our stallion ELVIS out of the mare, KLASSI. Figured Liz has earned one horse from us, as a gift. JAZI will make it ten! We knew, JAZIi was going to have a wonderful home with Liz.

I figured up how many horses we put into new homes, since we brought our new truck in January 2004. Unbelievably eighteen went to nine different homes. If counting two black fillies the bred mares had the next year, it'd be twenty. Twelve raised and six we purchased. Four of the ones we had purchased and then sold, we raised at least one foal from or more. The other two went back to their original homes. We are always so happy to see our horses to go to good homes!

REPORTS RECEIVED FROM OUR BUYERS THIS YEAR:

Liz writes in April: "I wanted to let you know that ECLIPSE has returned home with me and he is better than ever. All of his time with my trainer friend REALLY improved him immensely. He flat out got tired of being an arena and show horse. SO, my friend Beth called me and said to come and ride him. He has turned out to be one hell of a horse with an awesome temperament and a great work ethic. He is SO happy and a real pleasure to ride. KHAS is just like his dad and MALAN, he is a very special horse. I can't wait to get him under saddle. He is a SUPER sweet horse and is probably one of the most beautiful horse I have ever seen. What a GORGEOUS mover and I can't believe his personality."

Liz writes again in June: "Everybody is doing well. ECLIPSE is going down the trail perfectly and I'm trying to figure out an endurance ride for him. KHAS is at the trainers and has been saddled, but is just starting his schooling lessons. LODIN is such a sweetheart, just like his buddy MALAN. AHHH MALAN, the sweetest horse in the world. Mercedes is a hot tempered little girl but a sweetheart. KLASSI rules the pasture."

Jo in NC writes in April: "Just wanted to tell you a funny story, about DANA and Shadow. Joey was moving the horses around today. And of course his pride and joy DANA.... Her and SHADOW were being transferred, to about a 10 acre pasture when as usual Dana picks Joeys front shirt pockets for treats.... SHADOW usually gets hers handed to her, but today she wanted to try it like DANA and ripped his whole pocket while trying to get a treat... Joe just stood there laughing wish I had a camera, she had his pocket hanging from her mouth.... SHADOW is as black and SMART like DANA... She is the spitting image of DANA.... REVA they look great what a coat they had....Now they lay in the Sun....and graze.... Thank you so much for DANA, she has brought such joy to our lives and to our other horses.... DANA AND SHADOW ARE JOEYS PRIDE AND JOY....HIS LOVE THAT THE THREE SHARE IS ONE HECK OF A BOND....."

Pam, who has DALIN in Central CA wrote in June: "DALIN is a truly spectacular horse! Did I mention how much I love DALIN's disposition!"

Nancy, who has GOLDIN in MI wrote in August: "GOLDIN had some great training in April / May and rides very well. We measured her properly at the trainer's barn at 4 years, she is definitely 14.3 hands and so beautiful with her dark golden summer coat. And what a 'whacky' personality! Great fun and always a challenge. When she was kept separated in the trainer's barn, she was very malleable, but with the other animals, she is always on the alert to herd them off somewhere."

OUR NEW BARN CATS:

April: Patches came to us from a neighbor N of us. Patches is a spayed female short hair tortoiseshell around two years old. A fantastic cat!

November: Chelsea came to us from the lady farther N of us. Chelsea is also spayed, but she's also declawed in front but she can still catch mice. She is a very fat short hair tabby around five years old. A very happy cat, that loves to purr up a storm.

Hopefully we can just stick with the two cats now.... without any more strays showing up again!
